16 • The Eighth Beatitude

The fifth window on the north side depicts the Eighth Beatitude, “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” The left medallion shows St. John the Baptist in prison with his judges shown above him. The right medallion shows St. Peter in prison being visited by an angel. Kneeling angels below hold golden crowns, representing authority, honor, and divine favor.

The window is a memorial to Ralph Lord Brackett and Constance M. Brackett and was dedicated in 1949.
