11 • The Third Beatitude

The third window on the south side depicts the Third Beatitude, “Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.” In the left medallion Christ is baptized by St. John the Baptist. In the right medallion Christ enters Jerusalem riding on an ass. Kneeling angels below hold lambs, symbolizing meekness.

 

The window is a memorial to Sid Woodbury III and was dedicated on June 1, 1947.
