The small litany desk or prie dieu on the right as you enter the Cathedral was given on August 22, 1897, by Florence Glisan Minott and her husband, Arthur Mandeville Minott to commemorate the baptism of their son, Joseph Albert Minott II. Florence Glisan Minott was the daughter of Dr. Rodney Glisan, for whom Glisan Street here in Portland is named.
Made of walnut, the litany desk is superbly crafted and carved with trefoil, quatrefoil, and oak leaf designs. The piece is attributed to J&R Lamb Studios in New York. Many priests, deacons, and even several bishops have been consecrated while kneeling at it. The cushion was replaced, apparently for the first time, in 2013.
