On the left as you enter the Cathedral is an icon depicting the Holy Trinity. The icon was a gift to the Cathedral by the Trinity Iconography Institute to commemorate the ordination and consecration of The Rt. Rev. Michael J. Hanley as the 10th Bishop of Oregon in April 2010.
Called “Troitsa” in Russian, the icon is based on the prototype written by famed iconographer St. Andrei Rublev, who lived from about 1370 until 1430 C.E. Rublev was a professed Orthodox monk living in St. Sergius Monastery in Moscow.
