The large bronze Celtic cross on the peak of the Cathedral was made by famed local artist Manuel Izquierdo. The cross is 8’-8” tall and was installed in 1983 in conjunction with renovation projects in the chancel and nave.
Izquierdo is best known for his abstract metal sculptures but he also sculpted in wood and concrete and was a woodcut artist. His work can be found in parks, public buildings, museums, and college campuses up and down the west coast and across the country.
