Looking high up at the walls of the sanctuary, there are 6 murals connected to the theme of the Holy Eucharist.
To either side of the center altar tower there are 2 murals depicting grapes and wheat.
On the left is a chalice surrounded by grapes and containing a communion host with the letters IHS.
On the opposite side is a mural of loaves and fishes as described in the gospel of Matthew when Jesus fed the multitude.
To the right of the rose window, is a pelican feeding its chicks with its own blood.
To the left is the mural of the Lamb, representing Christ slain in sacrifice, holding the cross and its blood flowing into a chalice. This representation is from the Book of Revelation.
Please proceed to the right front of the Basilica to the Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
