A Multitude of Angels and Saints Praising God

Adorning the Sanctuary are 28 statues of saints and angels, including a large statue of St Dunstan high above the Tabernacle.  These saints represent the “great cloud of witnesses”  in heaven, with whose prayers we join during the Holy Sacrifice of the mass.

Notice the  four large angel statues standing as an honor guard to the tabernacle and altar.  Looking up to the ceiling above the sanctuary there are 5 archangels.

The saints represented on the altar screen include the 12 apostles, Mary and Joseph, various doctors of the church and popular saints at the time the Cathedral was built.

Step to the left of the main altar for the next stop.
