This is Pete Cunis. "Underground Complex" is a piece I created about the possibility of aliens on earth occupying command centers in suburban locations. The house, in the piece, is the first house that my wife and I bought in Denver many years ago. I painted the piece about a year after we moved in. I figured I'd use that as a reference to suburbia and then seemingly harmless, except for the spaceships on the land around it, you know it's just nondescript. I like to call it hiding in plain sight. People have asked me, do I believe in aliens? Sure. Yes, this is sort of a simplified view of it and this is also before Denver International Airport was built. You may be aware of the theories about alien underground complexes. "Underground" for me, is an interesting place as far as my work and how I approach it in various media. Underground is where some things live. Things are buried underground. Other things are hiding underground. Things get placed, to go away, underground. I thought it would be an interesting type of depiction and also trying to keep it simple and upbeat. Thank you.
