One of the last Stanleys made, and the first car in the collection, the 1925 Stanley SV (short for steam vehicle) is a five-passenger enclosed sedan produced by a new incarnation of the Stanley Motor Carriage Company known as the Steam Vehicle Corporation of America.
What looks like a radiator in the front of the car is a condenser, used to reclaim and reuse exhausted steam. This is therefore referred to as a "condensing car."
The SV is considered a more modern car with Ross cam-and-lever type steering, shock absorbers, and four-wheel hydraulic brakes, which were considered by other automobile manufacturers of the time somewhat of a novelty. A hand lever located beside the hand brake was used to engage reverse. Similar to other Stanleys, the SV has a twenty-horsepower boiler, burner and two-cylinder engine.
