The Embrace

I found this subject matter just off the Appalachian Trail in Eckville. A fallen oak tree had grown over several large rocks for decades and lifted them upward in a final embrace. Years from now those very roots will decay and the remaining rocks will slowly tumble back to Earth. Perhaps another tree will emulate the oak and embrace the rocks once again. I’m pretty sure I won’t be here to see that.
