The wooded hillside above my early childhood home is covered with a tangle of ancient grapevines. I recollect playing in this woodlot more than 60 years ago, and swinging like Tarzan on the vines. I painted myself as a shadowy figure climbing up the hill, returning again and again, in the cycle of life.
