Rep. Steve Israel on Finding a "Jewish Caucus"

Rep. Steve Israel (D) (b. 1958) served in Congress from 2001 until 2017, representing the south shore of New York's Long Island. Among his colleagues were fellow Jewish American politicians Eliot Engel, Jerry Nadler, and Nita Lowey, pictured here with then-President Barack Obama. Lowey, who served in Congress for 32 years, passed away in 2025.
