The Murder of the Mississippi Three

On June 21, 1964, Civil Rights activists James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner were pulled over in rural Mississippi. In what became known as the "Mississippi Burning" case, the men were arrested, and after their release, were stalked by members of the Ku Klux Klan and murdered. The case drew national, and even international, attention, particularly after their bodies were recovered in August of that year.
