The Hancock Building:  109 North Broadway  

The Hancock Building is a significant piece of Fargo history, not just for its architecture but because of the architects who designed and owned it.

Built in 1903, it was a personal investment by the famed architectural firm Hancock Brothers, George and Walter, who were instrumental in rebuilding downtown Fargo after the devastating 1893 Great Fire.

The brothers secured nearly half of the rebuilding contracts, giving downtown its signature, cohesive early 20th century look, and this self-owned building demonstrated their long-term confidence in the city's commercial future.
