McKone Building: 206 North Broadway

The McKone Building was built in 1905 and designed by architect Andrew J. O'Shea in the Classical Commercial style. The structure was built in 1905 by Peter Elliott, a prominent local hotel man, city councilman, and mayor of Fargo from 1907 to 1910.

The McKone Name: The building was named after J. Frank McKone, who owned a local cigar and beverage business. McKone married Elliott's daughter, Margaret, in 1909—several years after the building bearing his name was completed.

Designed in a Classical Commercial style, the historic building features distinctive elements including Ionic capitals on its corner pilasters and large three-part windows.

It stands as one of the contributing historic properties in downtown Fargo and is the home to Blackbird Wood Fire Pizza.
