I tweet, therefore I am

“I think, therefore I am” was made famous by 17th century French philosopher René Descartes. Fundamentally he proposed that we cannot doubt our existence while we doubt. We think, therefore we exist. By appropriating Descartes’ famous words, Yipang gave it a 21st century spin: I tweet, therefore I am.

If Descartes were alive in the 21st century he might have asked: “Do we exist at all if we don’t exist on social media?” I tweet, therefore I am. I click, therefore I am. I don’t tweet or click, therefore I am not. Who would we be if social media was not around to validate our existence?
