Auspicious Eagles

In the 12th century, Song Emperor Huizhong crafted an emblematic scene of a flock of white cranes above the imperial palace, symbolising auspiciousness and his celestial mandate. This pictorial narrative gains renewed significance in the work of Yipang, titled, 'Auspicious Eagles'. She subtly reframes the timeless masterpiece within the context of the current global politics.

This contemporary adaptation stands as a homage to history and a new perspective on modern geopolitics. It provokes questions about peace in times of lucrative wars and highlights the disquieting reality of significant corporate gains derived from global conflicts.
