Welcome! La Junta Rotary Club Historic Walking Tour

Walking tour of downtown La Junta Colorado. 

This region of The State of Colorado was once the homeland of the tribal nations of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Kiowa, Comanche and Apache people. 

La Junta was incorporated on April 23, 1881. La Junta is Spanish for the junction and is where the Santa Fe Trail, a 19th century trading and freight route connected the east with the west. The trail began in St. Louis, Missouri and stopped at Bent's Old Fort. The trail joined with what is now highway 50 and continued through La Junta to Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Each stop on the walking tour will take you on a visual and auditory journey of the buildings, the people, and the businesses which occupied them.
