Klagetoh

The Great Western Paintings Series is represented in this exhibit by three paintings – Klagetoh, Across the Divide, and Two Grey Frogs. This painting, Klagetoh, likely references Rigsby’s travels in the southwest including the Four Corners area and Arizona, where the tiny town of Klagetoh is located near to the Navajo Nation. Rigsby was an avid mystery reader, so it is also possible that the novels of Tony Hillerman, set on the Navajo Nation, also provided some inspiration.
