Poetry in Motion

This is Deborah Jang. Thank you for visiting my show, SUM OF THE PARTS. POETRY IN MOTION was a larger collection of wall-mounted work, and these are samples from that series. You will recognize common parts that the sculptures share: from old game boards and game parts, ceiling fan blades, embroidery hoops, and miscellaneous wood forms, signage, and metal household items. You may detect a couple of nautical references in these pieces, and within the entire show as well. I designed most of these smaller sculptures so that they can be displayed in multiple orientations. They can stand alone or in combination with others in the series. I like to think that the sculptures converse with one another, creating an overall visual and playful resonance.
