Whack-a-Fact

How confident are you that you can tell the difference between a fact and an opinion? Fairly confident? Not sure? Did you know that between a quarter and a third of U.S. adults cannot differentiate between fact and opinion? Yikes!

Let’s test your skills by playing Whack-A-Fact! When the game begins, grab a beach ball and throw it at the fact on the screen – NOT the opinion.  Just remember – a fact can be proven true or false but an opinion cannot. Being able to distinguish fact from opinion is an important skill for all of us. It helps us make wise decisions based on sound logic, and to be able to trust experts and each other. Facts are especially important to a healthy democracy where citizens must participate in decisions that affect the whole country.
