Their train was supposed to leave more than a century ago.
They’re no longer in any hurry. They arrived dressed for the journey, luggage packed, with plenty of time to spare. But somehow... they never boarded. Years passed. The trains stopped running, and the old 19th-century station became Lambertville Station, with fine dining, a hotel, and beautiful spaces for celebrations.
These two adapted remarkably well. Now they dress for dinner instead, surrounded by candlelight and perfectly content to linger over the evening. Even the spider seems to have a seat at the table.
If you hear a distant train whistle during dinner, don’t worry. They’ve missed it before.
