Frank and Mary Slattery Home

Frank and Mary Slattery Home at 410 W. Prospect Avenue.

Frank and Mary Slattery built this American Foursquare home in 1908.  Mary’s parents, Anna and John Smudde, had arrived in Appleton in the 1860s.  Like Colonel Conkey, John was among the city’s first millers at a time when flour was the boom industry driving local growth.

The cubic shape and hipped-roof with cross dormers are typical of Foursquare design.
