Ramsi Akel is a man whose appreciation for fine automobiles runs deep. A passion that developed as he grew up in the Middle East. There, BMW and Mercedes signified the pinnacle of automotive aspiration. It was in 2015 that he acquired something truly special: an ALPINA B12 5.0 Coupe, a car with a history as unique as its presence. This particular model had journeyed far, imported to the United States from the vibrant streets of Japan by its previous custodian.
The ALPINA, a distinguished 1992 BMW ALPINA B12 5.0 Coupe 850CSi (E31), one of a mere 97 ever crafted by the skilled artisans at ALPINA, had embarked on a transformative journey and time had taken its toll. Akel, with a vision of restoring it to its former glory, undertook a complete, ground-up restoration. His aim was to meticulously return the vehicle to its original, unadulterated splendor. A testament to its Japanese origins, a sticker, still bearing its intricate script, remained untouched, a whisper of its past life. The painstaking process was even captured on YouTube as a chronicle of dedication and rebirth available for fellow enthusiasts to witness.
Akel understood the rarity of his acquisition. He believed that for a time, his B12 stood alone in the United States, a solitary beacon of ALPINA excellence. Though he suspected two others might have since joined its ranks, its exclusivity was undeniable. This particular B12 held an even more singular distinction. Finished in a breathtaking Sterling Silver, it was the only one of its model to ever receive this elegant hue from the ALPINA factory, making it a true one-of-one. Recently, Akel proudly received the official certificate of authenticity from ALPINA, solidifying its unique place in automotive history.
