The BMW ALPINA M3 Gruppe A DTM is a celebrated racing car that played a pivotal role in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Based on the iconic BMW M3 E30, this vehicle was engineered for high performance and competitive racing. The ALPINA M3‘s striking livery, adorned with the brand‘s signature colors, made it instantly recognizable among fans and competitors.
The German Touring Car Championship enjoyed great public interest, thanks in part to new rules decisively influenced by Burkard Bovensiepen. Ellen Lohr, Andy Bovensiepen, Fabien Giroix, Peter Oberndorfer and Christian Danner, driving the BMW ALPINA M3 Gruppe A, earn multiple victories, along with many good placings. ALPINA are also pioneers in terms of the environmental impact of racing cars – the metal catalyst debuts in the BMW ALPINA M3 Gruppe A and becomes standard equipment in every DTM race car.
