Ancestral Time Traveling

This piece represents a journey of deconstructing and mending relationship with Land and ancestry. In questioning and healing from an inherited culture of whiteness, linear thinking, and power over, this piece expresses Bland’s journey of understanding the Land is a being to be in relationship with rather than an inanimate object to control or extract resources from. This map also evokes a circular way of relating to time as it recognizes the Land as both an ancestor and as a child, a past and a future.
