The Porch and Heritage Centre

The porch was added in the late 13th century. During the Middle Ages, weddings and other business often took place here. Above the porch is a small  Priests’ Room accessed through a small door and by 30 stone steps on the left as you enter the church. This was used as a meeting room and a private study by the clergy and in later years was where the Sunday School took place. Today, it is our Heritage Centre. We have hundreds of documents, maps and photographs etc and are happy to help anyone with geneaology research.

As you enter into the church you are standing in St Mary's Chapel, known by everyone as the Berkeley Chapel.
