The porch and Heritage Centre

The porch was added in the mid 14th century. During the Middle Ages, weddings and other business often took place here. Above the porch is a small 14th century Priests’ Room accessed by 30 stone steps on the left as you enter the church. This was used as a meeting room and a private study by the clergy and in later years was where the Sunday School took place. Today, it is our Heritage Centre. We have hundreds of documents, maps and photographs etc and are happy to help anyone with geneaology research.

As you walk through the door you are standing in St Marys Chapel but known to everyone as the Berkely Chapel
