Dutch Merchantman Model, Handmade, circa 1949

This ship model was made by an unknown inmate at the Jackson State Prison in Jackson, Michigan. While we do not know the date this was made, it was added to the collection in 1949. Museum records note that the gift was obtained through the cooperation of Mrs. S. Moskowity, Assistant Deputy Warden of Jackson State Prison. While we do not know the name of the person who created this, we do know that they were given eleven dollars and fifty cents worth of books on radio and television from Dr. H. Tashjian in exchange for the work.
