Love and Grit is a podcast from Visit Philadelphia that explores the authentic and diverse stories of the city.

Darrell knew he had to upgrade his shoe quality but he was out of money. 

As the Eagles won the Superbowl, a barbershop conversation would give Darrell the idea to make an Eagles sneaker.  By the time the Eagles parade came around to celebrate the big win, Darrell had designed the shoe, had it manufactured AND rented a truck where he would sell them.

He sold out of the sneakers and ended up on the local news. 

That footage caught the eye of Inside Edition, a national TV program of which he was invited for an interview….
