Winding hole

Winding Hole

We are currently passing through a winding, or winnding hole.   Winding holes are simply purpose built widenings in a waterway to allow boats to turn in order to change direction of travel along the waterway.   In the original canal era, winding holes usually evolved at places where working boats needed to turn, generally in the vicinity of factories or wharves.   The Art Deco style house often receives mixed opinions - love it or hate it!
