John T Bennette was the man who subdivided Oro Grande. He was the man who made sure the cemetery would always be a cemetery and remain a cemetery and he was one of those benevolent sorts. I’ve seen pictures and drawings of him sitting on the running board of his Model T, giving out groceries and things to people in need.
