King’s Chapel is one of Boston’s oldest and most historic churches. Founded in 1686 as the city’s first Anglican congregation, the present stone chapel was completed in 1754. During the American Revolution, many of its Loyalist members fled Boston, and the church later became America’s first Unitarian Christian congregation. Next door, King’s Chapel Burying Ground dates to 1630 and is Boston’s oldest cemetery, with early governors, ministers, and other prominent colonists buried here. Together, the chapel and burying ground offer a fascinating glimpse into Boston’s colonial beginnings and its changing religious and political life.
