'Nothing' by Axel Void and Michael Beitz

Axel Void and Michael Beitz of Void Projects collaborated on an installation for WOODS, an exhibition organised by FOUR_collective. Nestled in St. Peter’s in the Forest Cemetery, their sculpture consists of a 4 meter high cage-like structure with a swing hanging inside. For them, the work represents the physical manifestation of the conceptual cages that we find ourselves operating within. The swing inside demonstrates the attractive or comforting element that often entices us into certain moral, ethical, or spiritual convictions. The structure is built in such a way as to invite climbing and play in a context that is dominated by associations of sorrow and loss.
