The Rockery, originally developed in the 1960s, was significantly damaged during Storm Ophelia in 2018, prompting a thoughtful redesign and extension of this dramatic garden area. As Michael explains, the restoration allowed the Rockery to be re-laid and expanded back toward the Middle Walk, creating a renewed and enhanced landscape. Nearby, Paddy’s Wall offers an elevated viewpoint across the valley, before the path continues along the gently descending Herman Dool Walk, named in honour of the long-serving garden director and leading visitors toward the river shore.
