The Delaney House is a wonderful example of how buildings can have lives of their own.

This Gothic Revival house dates from about 1860. According to local historical research, it served as the first place of worship for Roman Catholics in Port Credit.

The building may originally have stood near the site of St. Mary's Church before being moved here.

So when we look at this house, we're not simply looking at an old residence. We're looking at a building that once played a role in the religious life of the community.

A newspaper clipping in the William Perkins Bull Collection explains that this Gothic Revival house served as the first place of worship for Roman Catholics in Port Credit. The house may have originally stood on the site of St. Mary’s Church on Lakeshore Road, and was later relocated to the corner of Bay and Peter Streets.
