One of the “mistakes” I knowingly made in this project was sitting close to the portrait sitter so I could have a normal conversation with them. As a result of this, I was too close to each subject to really maintain the proper distance to be able to step back away from the portrait to double check my work. After I completed Sonya’s portrait and put my camera lens up to photograph it, I saw that I made the shading under her eyes too dark. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the last time this happened, either. But I moved forward, tying to not let perfect be the enemy of good.
