Unity

Unity Mural

As you walk up the right side of Centre Street, across from the laundromat, you’ll pass the Mildred Hailey Apartments. On one of the walls facing Centre Street is the Unity Mural. Painted in June of 2016, by Alex Cook, the serene blues of the mural spell the word ‘unity’ in block letters. Alex painted the mural in collaboration with Jamaica Plain Development Corporation or JPNDC, which develops affordable housing in the neighborhood. As with the Jackson Square mural, members of the community helped paint the mural; there’s no better reflection of it’s message than people coming together to create and share art.

When you are ready to move on, continue walking up Centre Street, past the Stop & Shop. On the other side of the street, a shady plaza hugs the sidewalk - you’ve arrived at Mozart Park!
