Note: during the 2020/21 academic year, the Rare Books Room is off-limits. If you need access to materials in this room, contact a librarian with information on what you need, and you will be sent a scan of those pages (copyright rules apply).
The La Forest Rare Books Reading Room recognizes the accomplishments of Justice Gérard V. La Forest throughout his career as a lawyer, law teacher and scholar, senior civil servant, and Justice of the New Brunswick Court of Appeal and of the Supreme Court of Canada. The room houses historical legal material as well as items from the personal collection of Justice La Forest, including books, reports, articles, speeches, newspaper clippings, photographs, and other memorabilia spanning his distinguished career.
The Rare Book Room is the only room in the building with air conditioning, so once we're fully reopened, you'll find that it's a cool and quiet place to study. However, due to the value of the collection, we must stress that no liquids are allowed in this room at any time, not even in your bag.
