Rosa Leff

This panel is dedicated to my grandmother Rosa Saldana.

Like all of the women in my family, she was a seamstress in Puerto Rico.

When she came to New York, sewing was the only means she had to support her family.

She stitched together a new life.

The panel depicts the ground floor of her apartment building in Spanish Harlem, and the foot of a sewing machine stitching it all into place.
