7 BILLION HUMANS

The end of the trail tracing our common ancestry with all surviving living animals and understanding that we are an integral part of the ecosystem we see around us.  Our survival depends on their survival and at the current rate of  species extinction, we are well into the SIXTH MAJOR EXTINCTION.  It is the dawning of a new age of the Anthropocene, one created by man, who knowingly disrupted millions of years of climactic stability by mining and burning fossilized plant material that had been biodebris that had been sequestered underground for millions of years.  This bounty of energy propelled our species to boost our civilizations into hyperdrive to our own detriment.  We are now backpedalling to find solutions to the conundrum of global warming, a little too late.
