Jess, a friend of Dave, brought me a beautiful plant when she came to get her portrait painted.
At one point in this project, before I painted Jess, a woman came into my studio with a group of people and was observing small copies of these pizza box paintings on my studio wall. She really liked them and told me as much and she told me what she liked about them was that she felt that each of the people painted were about to start a conversation with her. That for me was the highest compliment that anyone could give me about this work.
When I look at Jess’s painting, I think the same thing to myself, that she is about to continue the great conversation we had about life, work, family, and art.
