My friend, Ellie, came down from New York City to spend the day, part of which was sitting for her portrait. I first met Ellie, like my friend Garette, at Manhattan’s Society of Illustrators. For several years, I sketched there on Thursday nights which was like a kind of fashion sketching salon, replete with a bar, great music and great artists. Some of those great artists became great friends of mine. I have always admired Ellie’s watercolor fashion sketches. She illustrates, designs rugs, and is a fine arts painter as well. This was another February day at the Pier that was freezing cold. You can tell by the coat and sweater Ellie was wearing during her entire portrait session.
