We've named our newlywed dolls after James and Rossie Hearne, who lived in the house during the 1930s. James was a dry cleaner, and his shop was just a few blocks away.
Rossie stayed home while Jim worked, but her life was stressful — because Mary Hearne, James’ widowed mother, lived with them here in this small house.
While we consistently position the dolls with Jim’s arm around Rosie’s shoulders, sometimes we find them facing away from each other, as if they’ve had a lover’s spat.
