The third image is of the 2nd Infantry Division at Omaha Beach in World War 2. After training in Northern Ireland and Wales from October 1943 to June 1944, the 2nd Infantry Division crossed the channel to land on Omaha Beach on D plus 1, June 7th 1944. Attacking across the Aure River on June 10th, the division proceeded to assault and secure Hill 1 9 2, a key enemy strong point on the road to Saint-Lô.
