The Front Gate

Down the hill from the Factory and Blockhouse #5, there are two white posts representing the original front gates of Fort Osage. Before roads and highways, most people used the river as a fast way to travel. Thus, when people visited from back east, they entered the Fort from the river entrance. Today you can follow this trail to a Lewis and Clark Trail marker and the Missouri River.
