I’m just looking back to my Instagram post for Namrata. At that time, I was sure I had the energy to do 300 or so of these free portraits. How naive of me.
Anyway, the process I most learned from Namrata’s portrait was at the beginning, I wanted to try to do an underdrawing of her face before I started painting, and I did. I used some wax pencil to sketch out her features and then I came in afterward with the paint. When I took a photo of the painting, however, I could see all the corrugated lines that the pressure of the pencil picked up and I reminded myself to only use paint wash in the future and never use these wax pencils again.
