Catherine came to the project through Helen who I painted before her. It turns out they were in bands together. The day I painted Catherine was brutally cold at the Pier. It had snowed heavily and it was crazy cold in my studio, mainly because I didn’t know how to work the heater yet. I remember being very happy that Catherine was able to leave the Pier with her painting folded up nicely inside the pizza box on which it was painted.
