Juan and marcelina living room portrait

Juan Menendez

Pictured with his younger half-sister Marcelina Leonis, Juan Menendez was born in 1857, and was the son of Espiritu and her first husband, Jose Antonio Menendez. After the death of Miguel Leonis, Juan lived at the Leonis Adobe with his mother, Espiritu, managing the grounds for her along with his wife, Juana. Juan Menendez was the last Leonis family member to live at the Leonis Adobe, until 1923 when he sold it to Lester and Frances Agoure. Lester was the son of Pierre Agoure, for whom the city of Agoura Hills was named.
