The soft light and muted colors of dawn are reason enough to get yourself to the beach before sunrise. But besides the colors in this composition, there are few small details that I really like about this image. The first is the seal visible on the left edge, just below the horizon line. The second are the two surfers peak-splitting the wave beneath the pier - one going left, the other right. The third are the pink lamppost lights that match the color of the sky. The City of Manhattan Beach puts these special bulbs in during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
