2nd Apparition - Holy water

Sunday, the 14th of February.  This time, Bernadette took with her a small bottle of holy water. She would throw some water at the little lady: it was one way of telling whether she was an evil spirit or not. If she was, then the evil spirit would run away from the holy water. If, on the other hand, the little lady was from heaven, she would come nearer.  Bernadette knelt down and said her Rosary and then threw some of the water at the lady, who smiled and came nearer. Her little lady, it seemed, was from heaven.
